Mukesh Sharma

Mukesh, began his art career in 1996 with undergraduate studies in painting at the Rajasthan School of Art. His drew profound inspiration from the art forms of Rajasthan, particularly the Rajasthani Miniature Paintings, Frescos, and Block-Printing of Sanganer, which left an indelible mark on his artistic practice. He furthered his education with a Post Graduation in Printmaking in 1998 at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda, enriching his artistic repertoire.

His work often explores the interplay between human dynamics and the environment in the context of urban life. Themes such as the impact of social media-induced isolation, the disquieting effects of capitalist ambition, and the rapidly evolving and often unsettling nature of modern urban spaces form the crux of his artistic expression.

His mixed-media installation ‘PK Man and Spider Man’ captivated audiences at the India Art Fair in 2015, while his large-scale sculptural installation titled ‘NAGRAJ’ earned a place at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2014. Additionally, he participated in the 5th Australian Print Symposium at the National Gallery of Australia in 2004, marking significant milestones in his career. Mukesh has received numerous awards, grants, and fellowships from esteemed institutions and has participated in residency programs in India and abroad.
