Ashok Bhowmick

Bhowmick, a distinguished senior artist from India, is celebrated for his unparalleled mastery of cross-hatching. His innovative approach elevates cross-hatching beyond a mere technique, transforming it into an autonomous and comprehensive medium. Bhowmick’s oeuvre is predominantly figurative, characterized by profound depth and complexity.

He earned a Diploma in Fine Arts from the Government College of Arts and Crafts in Calcutta. Throughout his illustrious career, Bhowmick has received numerous accolades, including the Governor’s Award in Calcutta in 1974. He has held solo exhibitions in Mumbai, Calcutta, and Delhi, and has participated in many group exhibitions. His works are included in prestigious collections such as the Ulemar Museum in Germany, the Modern Museum in San Francisco, the Lalit Kala Akademi in Delhi, and the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi. Ashok Bhowmick continues to live and work in Calcutta.
